About Our Speaker
Rizwan Somji, also known as Riz by his peers, is the CEO of Cymax Group. The Group consists of Channel Gate, a SaaS platform, which specializes as a digital supply chain management for e-commerce, Freight Club for freight and logistics, Cymax Business for office and corporate furnishing, and Homesquare for consumer home furnishing.
A resident of Vancouver and a graduate of UBC in Computer Science, he co-founded ResponseTek, which helped hone his entrepreneurial skills. Riz was the VP of Engineering and was responsible for the development of ResponseTek’s technology vision and strategy for their CEM enterprise SaaS product for 15 years. Riz then joined Cymax Group as VP of Technology in 2015, became Chief Operating Officer in 2017 and assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer in January 2019.
Since becoming CEO, Riz has transformed Cymax Group from a bootstrapped organization that required funding alongside vigorous cost-cutting measures, into a profitable growth-oriented operation. The new strategic plan Riz championed helped poise Cymax Group as one of the fastest growing online furniture retailers, and together with Freight Club (Cymax Group’s freight engine), the organization is growing to be one of the top employers, with an amazing culture, to work for in Vancouver.
